Scholarship Description This scholarship is awarded by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center to provide full and partial scholarships to students ages 9 to 18 that show a strong interest in music and dance.
Award The award will cover full or partial tuition payments for one Guadalupe Academy Semester, which runs September 9 – December 12, 2019. Eligible students can apply for one full semester of classes in Accordion, Mexican Folklorico Dance, Flamenco Dance, Mariachi Guitar, Mariachi Violin, Mariachi Trumpet, Mariachi Vocals or Piano at the Guadalupe Academy located at 723 S. Brazos St., 78207.
Eligibility This award is open to any student (ages 9 – 18), who is a resident of San Antonio and currently enrolled in schools or living within the 78207 zip code.
Criteria for Judging The Guadalupe is looking for students with a strong connection to music and dance. The student should demonstrate a genuine interest in learning to dance or play a musical instrument.
Requirements
• Completed application form with name, contact information and choice of class. Essay written by the student about his or her interest and involvement in the arts (maximum 500 words).
• Letter of nomination from a teacher, which describes how the student meets the award criteria. Letters must not exceed two pages, and must be included with the application form.
Deadline for scholarship applications will soon be announced. Application form, essay and letter or nomination can be dropped off at the Guadalupe offices, 723 S. Brazos St or can be emailed to Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center education director Belinda Menchaca at belindam@guadalupeculturalarts.org. Scholarship awards will be announced by September 9.
