44th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival!

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center announces Rudy Valdez of Mission, Texas, as the winning artist for the 44th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio 2026 Poster Contest. The winning poster design is an image of Conjunto legend and Texas accordionist Mingo Saldivar. Known as the “Dancing Cowboy” Saldivar is famous for mixing country music with conjunto. He is a 2022 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow.

The winning design, selected through an open competition, will be used in all promotion and marketing for the 44th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival, which takes place May 14-17, 2026. The festival includes a free senior dance on Thursday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Royal Palace Ballroom (3506 SW Military Drive), and three days of performances at Rosedale Park (303 Dartmouth St) from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17

Other winners in their respective categories include:

  • Open Category: San Antonio native Jose Sotelo Yamasaki received first place in the open category and Austin residents Ernesto and Cindy Tobar received a duo honorable mention.
  • College: Artist “Fanfan” a college student from Wuhan City, China is first place winner and San Antonian Anna Arce received honorable mention. She is a student of Saint Mary of-the-Woods College. She was also winner of the 42nd Tejano Conjunto Festival Poster Contest.
  • High School: First place winner Ailani Solis-Fuller and honorable mention Ajae Parks are both students of Veterans Memorial High School in Converse, Texas.
  • Middle School: The winner of the middle school category is Jorge Gonzalez Lariz, a student at Ronald E. McNair Middle School in Atascosa, Texas and Devani Garcia, a student from Harlandale Middle School received honorable mention.

Special Tribute to the Late Flaco Jimenez

On Friday, May 15, the 44th Festival kicks off with Jesse Perez y Sus Compadres Alegres, Los Tellez, Santiago Garza y la Naturaleza, South TX Homies, Ruben De La Cruz y Su Conjunto, Los Garcia Brothers and Los Fantasmas del Valle.

 

On Saturday, May 16, the festival features student conjuntos from the valley, Donna High School, Rafael Cantu Jr. High School and Texas Best Middle and High School Champions. Afternoon performances kick off with Elijah Ezequiel y Los Conjunto Addictz, Fruity Villarreal y Los Mavericks, J. Castillo y Los All Starz. Saturday evening performances are Ruben Garza y Su Conjunto, “Tremendos V” Reunion, Los Cucuys de Rodney Rodriguez, Los Monarcas de Mario y Pete Diaz, Da Krazy Pimpz, Lazaro Perez and closing the show, Ricky Naranjo y Los Gamblers.

 

On Sunday, May 17, the Tejano Conjunto Festival starts with student groups from Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Conjunto Heritage Taller, Edison High School and Southside High School. Afternoon performances continue with Waila Mumsigo and Stevie Vavages, DeVozion, Los Estrellas de Oro, Conjunto Cats, Chente Barrera y Taconazo and Juan P. Moreno, Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox y Conjuntazzo. Ending the festival will be Grammy award winning Los Texmaniacs and a special tribute of artists honoring the late legendary conjunto great Flaco Jimenez.

 

In addition to the live music and dancing over three days at Rosedale Park, the 44th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival will feature a free seniors dance on Thursday, May 14th from 10 a.m. – noon, at the Royal Palace Ballroom (3506 SW Military Drive), with music from Bene Medina y Conjunto Aguila and Epi Martinez and friends.

ABOUT THE TEJANO CONJUNTO FESTIVAL

The Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio is the first and longest-running Conjunto festival in the country and is internationally recognized as the most influential event for this beloved and significant South Texas musical tradition. The TCF showcases all of the very best in Conjunto music at Rosedale Park and the historic Guadalupe Theater, from the major living legends to rising bands and heritage award winners. The Festival is directed by Cristina Ballí with Mariaelena Villarreal producing and TCF founder Juan Tejeda serving as advisor. 

The 42nd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival in 2024 encompasses five robust days of live performances and dancing, including a special Seniors Dance and Conjunto Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The TCF crowd has continually grown over the years, and draws an enthusiastic audience of approximately 10,000 fans, dancers, and musicians from across Texas and the United States, as well as Mexico, Europe, and Asia.
